Simple Pleasure Sunday: Reading about Living in a New Place

Posted on September 13, 2015May 10, 2020 by the italiagal

A few bloggers I follow have recently moved to a different city. It’s such an exciting time for them and I am thrilled that they’re sharing their discoveries. I would like to move myself and at the moment, I am living vicariously through them while saving money.

Sarah from italy project 365 just moved from Bologna to Genoa. Check out her latest post all about Genoa here. Now I’m craving some focaccia!

Shannon of The Simply Luxurious Life is “elated” to be living in Bend, Oregon. She settled in quickly and reports that it feels like home already. Bend sounds like a lovely town. She had me at “artisanal bakeries!”

My fellow blogger who is also a real life friend, Kate from Seeking Small, just moved back “home” to England. I’m so happy for her! She is certainly busy with twin babies and a three-year-old, but it’s fun to see pictures on both her personal and blog’s facebook feed.

I enjoy reading about the adventures of these three women, but I also hope it inspires me to take the steps, both big and small, to make my dream of moving to a city a reality. …especially one with a charming coffee shop, bakery and wine bar within walking distance of where I’m living.

This topic is on my mind too Michelle, I'm craving small-town (but live in a city of 1.5m people). I invite you to make yourself a list and put those points in your last paragraph on it – dream your ideal home/area into reality! Best to you.

I will put it in writing. I agree, visualizing it is such wonderful motivation.

On your blog, you said that you don't use the word "try" I certainly see your point. Being positive is amazingly important. Furthermore, showing confidence is attractive. Plus, I like to think that others can count on my word as one would a contract. Your words motivated me to edit the line below "italiagal" from "The journal of a woman trying to lead an Italian-inspired life." to "The journal of a woman leading an Italian-inspired life." I don't think I'll drop "try" from my vocabulary however… I am a thoroughly positive person already. What I personally need to work on is accepting that failing as a beginner is okay. What's not okay is not even attempting something because I'm not going to be perfect at it. I want to really see trying as thoroughly positive, not negative whatsoever.

I enjoyed your series on beauty. I strive to make things beautiful. My college roommate used to laugh whenever I used the word "aesthetic."
