Simple Pleasure Sunday: Chocolates from Paris

Chocolates on a saucer for a tea cup.

The friend I visited Paris with, Elizabeth and I both love chocolate, so we enjoyed investigating the chocolate shops of Paris, particularly in the Saint-Germain area. We loved this particular shop Chocolats, Rive Gauche so much that we patronized it twice.

On the afternoon of my birthday, I bought a small box full of dark chocolate truffles to bring home. Specifically, the small squares have a decadent soft dark chocolate center covered by a dark chocolate shell and crunchy chocolate bits on the top.

They are delicious. Even one is very satisfying. I still have a few left.

It was nice to savor a couple today after a pretty long day. I was out late celebrating my birthday with girlfriends last night, then I spent from 7 AM to 2 PM today helping my mom sell antiques at an outdoor flea market. After unloading, we ate hamburgers and hot dogs prepared on the grill, while I did my laundry. As soon as I got home, I started blogging. Tonight's dinner date happened to be canceled, so I plan to take the rest of the night slow, possibly savor another chocolate, perhaps with some tea while reading a book (about Paris again). I will tackle the day again tomorrow, starting bright and early again.

  1. Yum your day sounds like fun! I love flea markets, burgers and chocolate.
What is the title of your book?

    1. "Paris Letters: One woman's journey from the fast lane to a slow stroll in Paris" by Janice MacLeod. It's new and my number was finally called in the library queue. I'm a 1/3 of the way in and it's wonderful. I found out about it through a blogger, specifically this post:
